Welcome to the Building Division
The question is sometimes asked: "What does the Building Division do for the City?" This Division was established to protect those who live and work in Carlsbad by enforcing the standards of building and safety put forth in the state Building Codes and various municipal codes and policies.
Whatever the size of the building project, staff is ready to provide support during every phase of the building permit process, from Monday through Friday at the City's offices on Faraday, on the phone or through email.

Attention: New in 2011
Effective January 1, 2011 all new construction in the State of California must comply with the NEW Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical and Energy Codes.
NOTE: RESIDENTIAL FIRE SPRINKLERS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR ALL NEW HOMES UNLESS THE PERMIT IS ISSUED PRIOR TO 1/1/2011.
