The Facilities Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining more than 640,000 square feet of building space at 52 different locations throughout the city, including City Hall, three libraries, six fire stations, and the Faraday Center. The division is also responsible for custodial service for all city facilities.

The division receives approximately 1,500 work order requests annually to perform a variety of repairs and alterations such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, employee moves, office remodels, among others.

The division uses a mix of city staff and contractors to ensure that the residents of Carlsbad receive attractive, clean and safe facilities at a reasonable cost.
